I can never find where the sugar is. Let's do a role play. I'll be the customer, you be the store worker. Hi, can I help you? Yes. Excuse me. Where can I find the rice? It's in aisle three next to the pasta. Great. Thank you. You're welcome. Here are some useful supermarket words. One, aisle, the long walkway between shelves. Two, basket. Small container for shopping. Three, trolley cart, bigger basket on wheels. Four, checkout, where you pay. Five, cashier, the person at the counter. Six, receipt, the paper that shows what you bought. And some useful phrases. One, excuse me, where can I find? Two, how much is this? Three, do you have any? Four, can I pay by card? Hello. Did you find everything you need today? Yes, thank you. How much is this bread? That's $2.50. Okay, and I'll pay by card. Great. Here's your receipt. Have a nice day. Thanks. You too. Let's practice some sentences together. Repeat after us. Excuse me. Where can I find the milk? How much is this? I'd like a bag, please. Can I pay by card? Here's my receipt.
Okay, John. Imagine we're shopping together. What should we buy for dinner? H Let's get some chicken, vegetables, and rice. Sounds good. Do we need drinks? Yes, let's buy some juice. Perfect. Okay, let's go to the checkout. The supermarket is one of the most useful places to practice English. Yes. Just remember, be polite.
