You're listening to Mr. English Podcast by Mr. English Podcast. Hello and welcome to the Mr. English Podcast. I'm Jessica and I'm John. Thanks for being here with us today. In this episode, we're talking about one of the most common Monday questions in English. How was your weekend? We'll show you how to answer naturally, ask follow-up questions, and keep the conversation going. So, John, how was your weekend? It was great, thanks. On Saturday, I met some friends for lunch. We went to a new Italian restaurant in town. The pasta was amazing. Nice. What did you do on Sunday? I stayed home, watched a movie, and cleaned the apartment. It was relaxing. How about you? Pretty good. On Saturday morning, I went hiking with my cousin. The weather was perfect. Sunny, but not too hot. Then on Sunday, I baked cookies and read a book. Sounds like a nice balance of active and relaxing. Here's some useful phrases we used. One, it was great. Thanks. A simple, positive start to your answer. Two, I met some friends for lunch. Past tense of meet. Three, the weather was perfect. Common way to describe outdoor activities. Four, I stayed home. Great for quiet weekends. Five. It was relaxing, positive, calm feeling. And here are some follow-up questions you can ask. One, what did you do? Two, who did you go with? Three, how was the food, the place, the weather? Four, did you take any pictures? Five, would you do it again? These help you keep the conversation going instead of ending after one sentence. Let's do another quick example. Sure. John, how was your weekend this time? Actually, it was a bit busy. I worked on Saturday morning, then went shopping in the afternoon. On Sunday, I visited my parents and helped them in the garden. That's nice. Did you enjoy gardening? Yeah, it was relaxing. And I got some fresh vegetables to take home. Let's practice. Repeat after us. How was your weekend? It was great, thanks. I went hiking with friends. I stayed home and watched a movie. The weather was perfect. I visited my family and helped in the garden. How was your weekend? Is such a simple question, but it's a great way to start a friendly conversation. And now you know how to answer with more than just good. You can share details, ask questions, and keep talking. Tell us in the comments how was your last weekend. Write your answer in English, and we'll read some in the next episode. Thanks for joining us, and we'll see you next time on the Mr. English podcast.
