You're listening to Mr. English Podcast by Mr. English Podcast. Hey. Hey. Welcome back to the Mr. English Podcast, your favorite place to learn real everyday English with a smile. That's right. I'm John. And I'm Jessica. And today's episode is super practical because we're talking about how to introduce yourself in English. Whether you're meeting a new friend, starting a new job, or going to a job interview, you need to know what to say and how to say it. We'll show you how to introduce yourself in three situations: casual with friends, formal at school or work, and a job interview. Then, we'll explain useful vocabulary and practice together. Let's get started. Okay. Imagine we're at a party and you're meeting someone new. Okay, imagine we're at a party and you're meeting someone new. Hey, I don't think we've met. I'm Jessica. Nice to meet you, Jessica. I'm John. So, what do you do? I'm a musician. I play guitar and teach music. What about you? Cool. I'm a graphic designer. I love working on creative projects. This is a relaxed and friendly introduction. You can use it at a party, a cafe, or when meeting a friend of a friend. Notice we used short sentences, simple questions, and casual tone. I don't think we've met. What do you do? Nice to meet you. All right. Now, let's move on to a realistic job interview. Jessica, you're the interviewer. I'll play the applicant. Hi, John. Thanks for coming in today. Uh let's start with a quick introduction. Can you tell me about yourself? Sure. My name is John Thomas. I have three years of experience working as a content creator for a digital marketing agency there. I manage social media campaigns, wrote blog articles, and helped design promotional materials. Sounds great. What would you say was the biggest challenge in your previous role? One big challenge was managing multiple projects with tight deadlines. At first, it was overwhelming, but I learned to prioritize tasks, use productivity tools, and communicate clearly with the team. Now, I feel more confident working under pressure. That's good to hear. So, why are you looking to leave your current position? I've learned a lot at my current job and I'm grateful for the experience, but I'm looking for a new opportunity where I can grow further, take on more responsibility, and work in a more creative environment like this one. Thanks for being honest. One last question, why do you want to work for our company? I really admire the work your team has done, especially your recent campaign for eco-friendly products. I believe your values match mine and I'd love to contribute to projects that make a real impact. That's wonderful. Thank you, John. See, that felt like a real interview. Not too long, not too short, just enough to show who you are. And the key is be confident, be clear, and don't just list facts. Tell short stories that show your experience and growth. Let's break down some useful phrases next. All right, let's go over some useful expressions and vocabulary from the interview. I have three years of experience. Great way to start your background. Tight deadlines. Deadlines that are very soon or urgent. Prioritize tasks. Decide which tasks are most important. Work under pressure. Handle stress and stay productive. Take on more responsibility. Do more advanced or important tasks. Your values match mine. A polite way to say you believe in the same goals or mission. These phrases will help you sound more confident and professional in any interview. Now, let's practice saying some of these lines together. Ready? I have three years of experience in digital marketing. One of my biggest challenges was meeting tight deadlines. I'm looking for an opportunity to grow and take on more responsibility. I admire your company's values and creative projects. Great job. Repeating these sentences will make your English sound natural and job ready. So whether you're making a friend, joining a new team, or walking into a job interview, you've now got the English you need to introduce yourself clearly and confidently.
